How is this different from Life Insurance?
Life insurance pays out to your BENEFICIARY when you pass away. Critical Illness pays YOU if you get sick with an illness to help with your recovery

Does Critical Illness have to be terminal?
NO. If you are diagnosed with an illness, there is a 30 day survival period and then you are paid the TAX FREE benefit

I already have Disability Insurance. Is Critical Illness Necessary?
Disability is only a percentage of your actual income and is paid out proportionately on a monthly basis. Disability insurance involves waiting periods of up to 120 days. A critical illness provides you with tax free lump sum payment within a shorter period of time (30 days) to help you recover as it is designed to pay for medication, childcare, transportation and anything else related to your recovery.

What is a 90 day cancer exclusion?
I cannot claim on any cancer on the first 90 days the policy becomes inforce. I am able to claim on everything else however. Once the first 90 days are up, cancer is a fully covered condition but will be subject to the 24/24 pre existing condition

What is a 30 day survival period and how does it apply?
For all illnesses except Paralysis (there is a 180 day wait), upon diagnosis of an illness, the insured must survive a period of 30 days in order to qualify for payment of claim.

What is a pre-existing condition?
If a person sought medical advice, investigated or was diagnosed by a medical practitioner 2 years before their effective date of coverage, there is a possibility that a claim could be denied if that insured claimed the illness within the first 2 years. The past condition must be related to the current claim. If there is no relation to it, then the claim would be paid out

What is your definition of a smoker?
"Non-Smoker" means someone who has not smoked cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars, pipe or chewing tobacco or used any nicotine products (patch, gum, etc.) for twelve months or more prior to the date of enrollment.

Are Firefighters excluded under the severe burns condition?
No, firefighters are not excluded
